We were honoured to welcome all three to Finn Park for our game against Kerry last night.
Gabrielle O’Reilly said: “It was an unforgettable trip for Daniel O’Reilly, David Crawford & Hughie Sweeney earlier this month when they travelled to Italy for the SUDS European Championships. The team played with incredible skill, heart and courage in their games against Italy, Portugal & Turkey.
The atmosphere generated by the Irish supporters at the Palazzetto Dello Sport, Salboro will live long in the memory. It was so emotional for the players and their families as they picked up their first international caps, with many of the Irish supporters desperately trying to hold back the tears as the players belted out the national anthem. It was an amazing experience for everyone involved.
The first Irish goal was scored by Daniel O’Reilly and he celebrated in style to huge cheers and chants from his supporters.
David Crawford proved exceptional in goal throughout the week and he garnered himself the title of “Save It David” after some superb displays between the posts.
Hughie Sweeney was the team’s joint top goal scorer, netting twice during the course of the tournament.
The three Donegal lads returned to hero welcomes and are so thankful to Finn Harps FC and everyone in their communities for their support and donations which enabled them to take part in the tournament.”
