Having spotted that there were four German fans in Finn Park for the Wexford game, we caught up with them to find out about their journey to our humble home.
Alexander Mueller said “I am Alex, 56 years of age, good friend of Robert Love (we know each other since we were kids), long time visitor to Ireland and Eintracht Frankfurt supporter. I’ve been following Finn Harps for a few years now and have seen some home matches. I even attended an away match against Shamrock Rovers in the cup some years ago. Well, Harps got hammered but still it was good craic!”
But what of the others? Alex said, “I told my friends in Germany (Peter, Markus and his son Maxi – all Schalke supporters) a lot about Finn Harps. Not only about how they play football, but about the atmosphere in the old stadium and of course THE SOUP. We live in the same village close to Frankfurt and usually meet on a Saturday to do some socialising together. A lot of ideas come up on those Saturdays and one of these was to attend a Finn Harps match in Ballybofey. Took us a few years to sort it out, but finally my friends visited me over the weekend and we made it to finn park last Friday evening and really enjoyed ourselves being 4 German Finn Harps supporters. UP THE HARPS!”
It was brilliant having you guys at Finn Park, we hope to see you again soon and keep spreading the good word wherever ye go!
