Finn Harps are absolutely honoured and thrilled to welcome our friends from the Bluestack Foundation to Finn Park this Friday night. The game against Wexford will see our first team wear the special edition kit, designed in conjunction with Bluestack and reflecting the sensory room at their HQ. The work the Foundation does for people with additional needs and their families is truly inspirational, and we are so grateful that they have agreed to work with us as our charity for 2024. We hope every one of you enjoy your visit to Finn Park and look forward to hosting you again in future.
Who are the Bluestack Special Needs Foundation?
About the Bluestack Foundation
Who we are: Founded in 2002 by the McBrearty family, the Foundation started off as a fundraising challenge, walking the Bluestack Mountains, fundraising to improve services available to children with additional needs. In 2006 the Bluestack Challenge committee decided to establish a charity and company limited by guarantee to address the lack of service provision for families caring for children and adults with additional needs. In 2008, the Foundation purchased their first building in Donegal Town.
We currently offer a range of services to 500 families across county Donegal. We provide the following:
- Day time Respite
- Clubs and Programmes in three locations to include Saturday Clubs, Teen Clubs, Choir, Guitar Lessons, Parent Support Network Meetings, After School, Summer Camps, Sensory and Messy Play, Annual Purple Tie Gala Ball, Social Evenings
- Adult Training and Progression Programme
- The Bluestack Shack Coffee Dock
- Disability Equality Training
- Directory of Disability Services (published annually)
- Listening Ear
Uniquely, the Bluestack Foundation is not disability specific, but works with all families pre and post diagnosis.
As an organisation heavily reliant on fundraised income, we are delighted to be part of this exciting partnership with Finn Harps, to be their chosen charity means so much to us and to our members. The job of fundraising isn’t easy and it is continuous, the Foundation this year launched their fundraising campaign called Teddy Steady Go, Errigal to Everest, if you value our work and would like to support us, we invite you to sign up to raise funds with your friends and families in aid of the essential supports and services we provide for people with additional needs. This fundraising campaign will be running for the year with the climax in 2025 being a group of individuals climbing to mount Everest base camp. To find out how you can take part, please visit www.bluestackfoundation.com/eventsandfundraisers.
The Bluestack Foundation is constantly trying to expand its services to meet the demand for them in our communities. Support like this is vital for us to continue our mission of “enhancing the lives of people with additional needs” If you or someone you know thinks the Bluestack Foundation can offer support, please contact our main office on 074 97 40828 or email [email protected] and we will develop a plan to help.
