Finn Harps are delighted to confirm the addition of Gary Wallace to the club’s backroom team. Wallace brings a wealth of experience as a strength and conditioning coach having worked with the Northern Ireland International setup, at both underage and senior levels.
Wallace told club media: “I’m delighted to be part of the coaching staff at Finn Harps. I have worked with the manager and Eamon in the past and am delighted to team up with them again.
The players, staff and club have been very welcoming, and I look forward to working with everyone.
I’m here to help support the players and staff in any way possible, from physical preparation to recovery and all things performance-related. There is an excellent mix of youth and experience in the squad, and the lads have been very responsive to anything we have asked them to do and are already seeking ways to improve, which is always a good sign.
I’m looking forward to this opportunity and want to pass on as much knowledge and experience as possible to help improve each player and the team.”
Harps boss Darren Murphy paid tribute to Gary and the rest of his backroom staff after an impressive preseason: “First of all I’d like to welcome Gary to the backroom team here at Finn Harps. Gary is someone I’ve known a long time after working together at the IFA. He is a fantastic strength and conditioning coach. He has worked with the Northern Ireland international set up, from Senior internationals right down to the JD UEFA Academy.
He has a wealth and depth of knowledge, and along with Nichola Ayres and Eoin Logue that department is in very good hands. I’m delighted with all three and it would be remiss of me to compliment Gary alone for all the work in getting the players up to speed through preseason, Nichola and Eoin have been tremendous in that regard also.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the rest of my backroom staff as well, Kevin McHugh, Eamon Curry, Dougie McNulty and Shane Elliott, they have all put in a trojan effort these past few weeks and have been a massive help to myself.”
