Finn Harps Football Social Responsibility Programme Update

Finn Harps FC Football Social Responsibility Programme is lead by our FSR officer Stephen McNutt who was appointed last year.  The post is funded by Healthy Ireland in cooperation with the FAI and with Donegal County Council.  The programme includes many different initiatives and the following gives a taste of what is planned from July until the end of the year.  If you want to get involved or have questions about the programme, contact Stephen via [email protected]

Walking Football/Football Bootroom:

Manorcunningham and Clonmany – The Clonmany Walking Football programme will continue through to October with the Lagan Group starting mid-July in partnership with the Local Football Club and the Men’s Shed in this area.

Football Memories:
– Continuing to work with the Pennyburn Youth Club
– As the Clonmany and Lagan groups continue to grow, our aim is to encourage all groups to attend Senior games and establish a social environment linked to Harps Football Club.

Schools Positive Values programme has been delivered in various schools already with more to come

Schools Positive Values Programme:

Promoting Healthy Lifestyle and Positive Values through our Primary and Secondary schools programme through September – December (2 x 4-week block)

Football Numeracy / Sphero Coding club (Double Club):

Delivering a 6 x week Pilot Programme in East Donegal.

4 schools participating – working with 4th, 5th and 6th classes in each school.

Football Camps:
– Delivered during the Easter, Summer and Halloween breaks throughout the County.
By creating these links with Clubs and Organisations we can promote the Core Programmes we deliver as well as the kids growing their skills and having a great time!

Inclusion Camps:
– Partnership with Donegal Horizons – delivering camps for Adults with disabilities from different parts of Donegal.
– Autism Camps – Working with Letterkenny to delivery fun sessions to both Kids and Adults. 1st Camp starting in July.

SRTRC Workshops:
– Secondary School Programme: Delivering pilot scheme to 1st year students in selected schools. Will deliver 5 of these in the September – December Period.

Girls Development Sessions:
– Working with girls in the Inishowen area to improve their all-round game and chances of staying in the game either at local, regional or national level.

Primary Schools 5 a Side Tournaments:

– Teams selected from all over the County to participate in the FH invitational Tournaments. We will have 6 sections (3 Boys and 3 Girls) competing.

Gateway Soccer Connections:
– Promoting inclusion and respect by working with schools and kids on both sides of the border.
– Senior clubs coaches upskilled to deliver programme during school terms.

Finn Harps Down Syndrome Futsal Squad:

Establishing a 1st ever Finn Harps Futsal Squad to compete at national level, and winning the inaugural tournament!  For more see HERE
– The squad was selected for 16+ Boys/Girls who have Down Syndrome from Tyrone, Derry and Donegal.
