Donegal Soccer Stars Get Behind Stadium Project

Ireland and Donegal soccer heroes Shay Given and Tyler Toland attended a recent event held by the Dublin Donegal Business Network before Harps took on UCD last Friday. Attendees gathered at the UCD clubhouse to celebrate Harps’ 1974 Cup success and look forward to the future of the club, the new stadium project.

Virgin Media presenter and Donegal Native Tommy Martin began the night by speaking to Jim Sheridan, Captain of the 1974 Cup winning side about that famous day at Dalymount Park and the importance of the club to the people of Donegal.

A panel discussion followed with Sheridan and Harps Chairman Ian Harkin being joined by former Ireland international Shay Given and current international Tyler Toland. Both Given and Toland spoke fondly of the early moments of their respective careers spent in Donegal, and recognised the key role the Finn Harps stadium project can play in giving young talent in Donegal the best possible platform to realise their potential and go on to represent their country and Donegal on the international stage.

Finn Harps Chairperson Ian Harkin then gave a presentation on the status of the stadium project, declaring to attendees that ‘now is the time to build our legacy’.

An enormous thanks to Garrett Harte and the Dublin Donegal Business Network for organising the event and to speaks Tyler Toland, Shay Given, Tommy Martin and Jim Sheridan for giving up their time to make for an enjoyable evening for all in attendance.
