MU20
An impressive performance by Russell Porter’s MU20 side gave Harps a home victory over their Dundalk counterparts at Finn Park courtesy of early goals from Troy Preston Holder & Conor Gibson. Seaghan McCormick claimed the MOTM honours.
MU17
Our MU17s began their Phase 2 in style with an impressive derby win over Derry City. Oisin Ebbs was the hero with a sublime hat trick, with Leighton Green adding the 4th with a bullet header. Rowan McGroarty & Odhran McHugh shared the POTM with excellent performances.
MU15
Our MU15s made a flying start to their Phase 2 with a solid 4-0 victory over Dundalk on Saturday. Odhran McHugh found the net twice while Ashton Crossan and Jack O’Donnell added a goal each. Lukas Doherty had another impressive performance sharing the POTM with Jack O’Donnell.
WU17
Harps got their start to Phase 2 of the league off to a decent start with a point away from home.
Harps almost took the lead in the 2nd minute but Sophie McLaughlin’s effort was well saved by the Drogheda keeper. Indeed, this would be a theme of the half as on 4 occasions the keeper did well to deny the speedy McLaughlin.
Harps defence were excellent throughout with Sorcha Keys, Megan Gallagher, Alannah Curran and Erin Nelis in great form. Hannah Goudie and Kyra Gavigan were dominating the midfield area and Cliodhna Kelly and Sarah McGuinness were instrumental in the final third with Aoibhin Cassidy working hard too.
Harps opened the scoring in the 11th minute when McGuinness’s corner fell to McLaughlin and she finished very well. Drogheda were awarded a penalty in the 34th minute when a Harps defender was unfairly adjudged to have handled the ball. 1-1 at the break with Harps wasteful in front of goal.
Chloe Deeney, Claragh Gallagher and Rachel Harron brought good energy to the team on a very hot day. Harron went close on 2 occasions and McLaughlin was always a threat. Fia Coyle and Sophie Doherty were strong in defence and keeper Rihanna Doherty had a solid performance.
Kyra Gavigan, Megan Gallagher and Sorcha Keys shared the POTM award. On another day Harps would have claimed all three points but they had to settle for a decent point on the road in the end.
WU19
Harps WU19s travelled to Shelbourne yesterday for a Group B Round 9 game missing a number of players and with several WU17 players stepping up to the higher grade. The home team quickly raced into a 2-0 lead and finished the game 4-0 winners.
