Preview: Finn Harps v Cork City

Finn Harps return home tomorrow night after two away games as they welcome Cork City to Ballybofey. The game was initially scheduled to take place at Turners Cross however the Munster Football Association closed the ground due to issues with the pitch surface. Kick-off at Finn Park is the earlier time of 6pm due to ongoing floodlight issues.

Harps will be hoping to get back on track after two defeats on the spin to Athlone and Cobh Ramblers. The last time the two sides met ended in a 1-1 draw after a controversial penalty gave Jack Doherty the opportunity to level the scores following Success Edogun’s goal in the first half.

Harps boss Darren Murphy speaking ahead of the game, “I don’t put the last two results down to travel, but it is important that people have insight. It does sadden me sometimes when I see or hear certain individuals who have been involved, some ex-players even, people who should understand the sacrifices, making certain comments. Somewhere along the line it might take a toll, but supporters need to see what happens outside of the hours of 7.45-9.45pm.

But our focus is on the game with Cork City, they’re flying high at the top of the league and we probably feel as if we should have taken all three points the last time we met. We’re down a lot of players through injury but I have faith in the boys to put in a good performance and give us a chance of a result.”
